Wow. It’s crazy to me that this is really something that is being set in motion. I just sent DREAM SEQUENCE off to my main editor Thomas Jacobs and now, here I am, creating a website. It’s been a crazy year and a half since I first started this journey and to be honest, I’m both nervous and excited to start querying agents. I’ve braced myself for the many rejections that may arise. I have my plan B. But still, I can’t shake the nerves.
Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud to have finished my whopping 119,000 word manuscript. The first time Dream Sequence went through edits, it was on 50,000 words. I thought I had taken it as far as I could and that I was ready for edits, but I was dead wrong. I will forever have learned the lesson that there is ALWAYS room for improvement. Both Tom and my content editor Jillian Fitzgerald were amazing and really helped me see the potential I could pull out of this first draft. I mean it more than doubled in size! And I thought 50,000 was a lot of work.
I know that very little people are going to see this, but I wanted to start off with some initial thoughts and feelings while waiting on my first novel to come back from it’s second round with edits. Jillian had already had it twice, so now it’s Toms turn to kind of help me refine things and clean it up. And my turn to work on getting this website prepped and get my elevator pitch and query letters ready. UGH SO NERVOUS. I’m great when it comes to getting a story down, but terrible with the summary. There’s just so much to it that I find it hard to describe in a few sentences. But I will try my best. I find that research and examples help a lot when it comes to a lot of the steps in getting published/represented.
Well, that’s all for now. Wish me luck!
